McKinley Rich

Content Management Guru & Client Care Rockstar

Kids: 3
Location: Manassas, VA

McKinley is an enthusiastic self-starter who ensures our Positive Parenting Solutions community is receiving top-notch information. She is a math teacher turned writer who stumbled upon Positive Parenting Solutions in a moment of distress.

As a military spouse, foster mom, and biological mama to 3 young boys, her yell-o-meter was reaching epic heights before Positive Parenting Solutions graced her Facebook newsfeed.

With her newfound knowledge and support from the entire Positive Parenting Solutions community, McKinley spends more time playing with her kiddos and only a fraction of the time yelling (she still gets a little too enthusiastic at her kids’ sporting events).

When McKinley has a moment to herself, she enjoys eating Nutella by the spoonful, traveling to the ends of the earth, going on a walk with her hubs, and sitting in silence on her couch in flannel pajamas.

McKinley’s Biggest Parenting Fail: “My oldest son had a terrible habit of peeing in his room. Yep, that’s right. Straight onto the carpet.

After having discussed this poor decision over AND over with my son, and thinking the issue had been resolved, I was surprised one night as I breathed in the putrid ammonia-like smell again.

Feeling at a total loss, I calmly called my son into his room, held up my cell phone, pretended to dial 911 and said, “Hello, policeman. My son has now peed in his room for the umpteenth time, and I don’t know what else to do. Can you please come get him?”

Welp. Two things happened.

  1. He has an unnecessary fear of policemen that we are still trying to correct. (Sorry to our men and women in blue – please forgive me.)
  2. He never peed in his room again.”
