Positive Discipline: Teaching Children Positive Behavior

When a child displays inappropriate behavior, he needs to be punished…right? The definition of punishment is: “pain, suffering or loss inflicted because of an offense.” We define punishment as anything that causes the child blame, shame or pain. Is this really what we want?

“Where did we ever get the crazy idea that we could make kids do better by making them feel worse?”
Jane Nelsen, Ph.D.

By contrast, “discipline”, which comes from the Latin root “discipulus” means a “learner, pupil or student.” Our job as parents is to teach our children…not to make them “feel worse”.

The teachings, strategies and tools you will learn from Positive Parenting Solutions are based on positive discipline. Positive discipline (also commonly known as positive parenting or positive behavior) is a philosophy that begins with teaching the child appropriate behavior and then holding the child accountable for her behavior with dignity and respect.

Children don’t want to misbehave! In our online parenting course, you’ll learn why kids misbehave and what your toddler, child, tween or teen is really trying to tell you. If you don’t understand the root cause of the behavior and the basic need they are trying to communicate, the misbehaviors will never go away.

You’ll see positive changes in your child’s behavior immediately after implementing the first of over 20 tools from The Tool Box. Parents are amazed at how quickly things begin to improve around the house as the misbehaviors melt away. When a misbehavior pops up, you’ll be prepared and know exactly how to handle it without yelling, nagging or reminding.

Positive Parenting Solutions will teach you positive discipline skills to help you raise independent, self-sufficient, and responsible kids. You will feel inspired, hopeful, and empowered with new parenting skills that can be implemented immediately.

Yelling, time out and other forms of punishment don’t teach the child how to make better choices. Parents who use punishment, often find themselves punishing over and over for the same behavior. That tells us it’s not working!

Stop punishing and begin teaching. Positive Parenting Solutions will teach you how.
