PUNISHMENT & CONSEQUENCES

Parents often use the terms “PUNISHMENT” & “CONSEQUENCES” interchangeably. They are very different! “Punishment” is defined as anything that causes blame, shame or pain. When the child is experiencing blame, shame or pain – he goes into self-defense mode & the learning stops. “Consequences” are LOGICALLY structured & train the child to make better choices…
